BRIDGE OF DON BAPTIST CHURCH

Pastoral care team

"For God so loved that the world that He gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John's Gospel Chapter 3)

We sincerely believe this to be true. Therefore, we want to practically demonstrate love and care toward others in a helpful and appropriate way. It is recognised that many of our members will care for others in informal ways but it is also good to know that the Pastoral Care Team exists to help strengthen the caring ministry of the church. Examples of this care include visiting, listening, and praying as well as card-writing, and organising practical support during special times of need. Each member has, according to the group's remit (see below), 'been set apart for this caring ministry on behalf of, and with the support of, the elders and confirmed by the Church Meeting.'

Remit

The pastoral group is responsible to the members and friends who attend Bridge of Don Baptist Church. They have been set apart for this caring ministry on behalf of and with support of the elders and confirmed by the church meeting.

The role of the group:

    • To meet regularly for reflective prayer
    • To offer support to individuals and families
    • To visit when possible and appropriate
    • To consider the needs of the whole fellowship
    • To send out cards and letters
    • To act as a sounding board to the Pastor

Based on the ministry and teaching of Jesus the pastoral group would seek to model itself on ‘the good shepherd’ who is ‘among you as one who serves’.

 The expectations of the group:

    • All conversations and information shared will be confidential to the group
    • All actions taken will be subject to reflective practice within the group
    • Each member of the group will be ready to give a good account of themselves
