We recognise that God has given different abilities (or gifts) and special areas of interest to each of our members. Each Ministry Group, led by a Deacon or Elder whose calling in the relevant area has been recognised by the Church, meets regularly to consider its area of ministry and to plan how best the church can faithfully honour God by serving the Church and community. Because each group is chaired by a member of the leadership team the overall ministry of the church, right down to the smallest operational level, is supported and upheald by the Deacons & Elders.
Here are the groups, their leaders, and a summary of their activity:
The Children's Ministry Group oversees and supports our children's work. We seek to inspire and encourage children's workers as they show and share the love of Jesus with all children in our church and community. Bridge of Don Baptist Church has a child protection policy to ensure that children can explore and discover God's love in a safe environment.
The Finance Ministry Group supports the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer in dealing with the finances of the church including making recommendations on future expenditure priorities, setting budgets, presentation of financial information to the church.
The aim of the Hospitality Ministry Groups is to offer practical support for essential church activities. The group is responsible for overseeing rotas which help Sunday services to run smoothly (welcoming, tea & coffee, communion preparation & serving, crèche,; organising whole-church catering events as requested by leadership (other catered events are covered by the organising groups or individuals), and TIME4US, which is an off-shoot of this group and meets on a bi-monthly basis.
Our Mission Ministry Group's remit is quite simply to help the Church fulfill its responsibilities for evangelising the world.
The Outreach Ministry Group aims to help the Church fulfill its responsibilities for spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. In recognising the importance of this Ministry Area the group is chaired by the Pastor.
The Property Group serves as an enabling ministry to ensure the Church Centre, grounds and two Manse properties are properly maintained and developed. This honours the Lord in this care of the gifts He has given to us in this way and also through care of His full time Church staff. It ensures that the other Ministries have these key resources to then carry out His plans. The group meets approx 6 times a year to discuss, plan and cost. Liaising closely with the Treasurer to work within financial budgets and cash flow status, the group then also carries out the necessary works, either by DIY or through engaging contractors as required.
The Social Action and Care Ministry Group helps put forward a Christian perspective on many issues facing all of us on a daily basis, e.g. health issues, Government, in Holyrood, Westminster and Locally, Education, Employment, Family life, Finance and Green issues. We encourage our Fellowship to be pro-active in highlighting the “Christian perspective”. As a church we have close links with National organisations such as CARE, Care for the Family and the Evangelical Alliance, of which our Church is a member. We work closely with these National organisations.
The Worship Ministry Group is tasked with encouraging, developing, deepening and supporting the worship life of individuals and groups both within and associated with the Church. As a Church we recognise that worship is an integral part of our spiritual and physical lives. As such, this group is always chaired by a member of the Eldership.
Our Youth Ministry Group aims to help reach and disciple young people in both the Church and the community, providing opportunity for fellowship and service in God’s kingdom here in Bridge of Don.
