Previous hustings event at Bridge of Don Baptist ChurchFor a number of years the Social Action and Care Ministry Group has organised a Hustings during the lead up to elections whether at Westminster or Holyrood. The organisation of these events has been helped by “Make the cross count” campaigns organised by CARE.  During Hustings events a selection of Candidates standing for election in the local constituency are invited to take part in lively debate answering questions asked by the audience. The Hustings is open to the local community.  Refreshments time allows Candidates free time to chat on a one to one with those attending.

Comments from Candidates highlight how beneficial past events have been allowing them time to debate topical issues with fellow candidates particularly those who have wide experience in politics.

One Candidate in the 2010 Westminster  election when invited to the next Hustings commented  “I attended the Hustings at Bridge of Don Baptist Church in 2005 and I am genuinely very excited about participating this time round”.
