BRIDGE OF DON BAPTIST CHURCH

The Story Chest Holiday club (2010)

The village of Bodley sits in a place and time that everyone has forgotten. The village hasn’t changed since before memories were memories. Mrs. Montague’s Tea Shop still has the same table cloths she had when she opened it when everything was still in black and white! People still group round the town square for their morning exercises, they still visit the Playhouse Theatre to see the stories of old brought to life and they still go to the Old Court House to see someone tested about the stories each day.

In amongst all this sits “The Story Chest” bookshop. Uncle Magorium has run it for as long as anyone remembers – and that’s a long time! But this year Uncle Magorium has gone away on his summer holidays – the first time in 50 years! He’s left his niece and nephew in charge of his precious bookshop. One slight problem – the shop isn’t too keen on Uncle Magorium going away and even less keen on his niece and nephew running things. In fact, it is fighting back!

Each day Uncle Magorium’s niece and nephew have to get everything ready for the “Grand Story Telling”, but to do so they need the help of the shop and it isn’t cooperating!

Over the week the Story Chest bookshop played centre stage as the children learned about the life of King David and how he made mistakes but managed to move beyond them.
