Here at Bridge of Don Baptist Church we recognise that as Christian believers we are called to be ambassadors for Christ not just in our local area, but sharing the Gospel of Christ beyond the immediate area and indeed to the ends of the earth.
Over the years we have supported the efforts of the Baptist Missionary Society (BMS) with practical and prayerful input. However there are many other overseas missions that we are excited to be involved with including Interserve and Sat7. Additionally we have established a strong link with a number of churches in southern Poland.
Members of the church currently serve in Central Asia and Cyprus. Our BMS link missionary works as a school teacher in Albania. Several of our young people have been involved with short term missions in Africa, South America and the Far East.
Support for our missionaries is a very important responsibility and is multi faceted, including both financial and prayer elements. Practical, “hands on” help is not always easy to provide but is very much needed and appreciated. In recent years groups from the church have visited Central Asia and Poland giving practical and emotional support.
A group from the church regualrly travels to Poland each summer to visit and give support to Pastor Jacek Zatyka. Jacek is a church planter based in Kamienna Gora. His work brings him into contact with many disadvantaged families where the destructive forces of alcohol and drugs result in huge needs for parents and especially for their children. The group spends time with these groups as an encouragement to both Jacek and the churches he is involved with.
